1. Congratulations on getting the state rank in the HSC examinations. Was it a surprise when it came or were you expecting it any way?
Thanks for your wishes. I was expecting state rank. When the results were announced, it was really a pleasant surprise to me.

2. Many schools and students start their preparation for the twelfth standard examinations while in the 11th standard itself. When did you start your preparations for the 12th standard public examinations?
I started my preparations for the 12th standard public examinations in the 11th standard vacation.

3. Was the teaching and materials provided by the school sufficient for your preparations or did you take any special coaching for any of the subjects?
The materials provided by the school were sufficient. I did not take any special coaching.

4. For how many hours per day did you study?
Apart from school hours, I used to study from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm in the night and 4:30 am to 7:00 am in the morning

5. How was your typical school working day like? How would you allot time for each of your work?
After returning from School, I used to take rest up to 6:00 pm. I will do my study works till 9:30 pm. In the morning, I used to wake up at 4:30 am.

6. How was your typical school holiday (weekend etc) like? How would you allot time for each of your work?
In the weekend, I used to allot 2 hours for each subject and revise the portions completed in that week.

7. Did you approach preparation for each of the subject (Language, English, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology/Computer Science) differently or was your approach the same to each of the subject?
I had the same attention for all the subjects but the approach was different.

8. If your approach to each of the subjects were different, how did you approach the preparation for -
a. Language (Tamil) Paper

I concentrated much on the grammar part. I collected quotes for the essays

b. English Paper

I prepared my own essays with quotes and I verified those essays with my teacher to avoid mistakes. I also gave importance for synonyms and antonyms.

c. Physics Paper

I concentrated mainly on one mark questions and practiced diagrams often.

d. Chemistry Paper

I gave much writing practice for the organic part. I collected many question papers from my seniors and I tried to solve the problems in them. I was very careful while writing balanced equations.

e. Mathematics Paper

I wrote many self tests in the weekends. I solved all the one mark questions given in the COME book. I was thorough in all the chapters. I didn’t omit any chapter.

f. Biology Paper

I used to write home tests everyday and used to recall them at the weekend. I used to discuss the one mark questions with my friends.

9. How important are handwriting and learning to write speedily in the examinations? Is there anything that a student can do to improve these two aspects?
Handwriting is very important for the language papers. One should have writing practice everyday to write speedily in the examinations

10. Are there any strict Dos and Donts that you would recommend a student preparing for his or her twelfth standard examinations to adhere to?
Dos
a) Have at least 6 hours of sleep everyday
b) Hard work and self-confidence

Donts
a) Don’t be addicted to entertainment
b) Don’t be tensed. Have a relaxed mind always
c) Don’t lose your confidence if you score less marks

11. Did your school identify you as a prospective state rank holder early and give any special attention and coaching? How important is the choice of a school in achieving high marks in the examinations?
Yes, my school management gave special attention and coaching for language papers. We should choose a school that gives individual care to the students.

12. What was the role of your parents and family in your preparations for your public examinations?
My parents had great role in my success in the public examination. They used to encourage me every day when I got low marks, they didn’t discourage me. Instead they would tell me to avoid the mistakes in the public exam.

My parent s used to wake me everyday at 4:30 am. I used to recite the answers to my father. My brother was a good guide to me.

13. How did you learn about your achieving the state rank in the examinations? What was your reaction when you first heard it?
I got a phone call from my school about my achievement. I felt very happy as my dream became true.

14. Did you have any time to play any sport, pursue any hobby during your preparation for the public examination?
No. I did not involve in any sports activities. Whenever, I got time, I used to hear songs.

15. Your life must have changed after achieving the state rank. You must be busy receiving lot of congratulatory messages, awards, recognitions etc. Could you tell your experience since the results were released?
Yes, I received a lot of congratulatory messages. I felt very happy when I received congratulations from the Coimbatore Commissioner, Dr. C. Sylendara Babu IPS.

16. Are there any special people you would like to thank for your achievement?
I would like to thank all my well-wishers for my achievement.

17. Tell us about your family.
My father Mr.Rasappan is a farmer. My mother Mrs.Santhi is a home maker. My brother Arun Kumar is pursuing B.E. in Anna University.

18. What course have you chosen to pursue after your twelfth standard?
I have chosen MBBS to pursue after my twelfth standard.

19. Finally, what is your advise to the students who would be taking their public examinations shortly?
First of all, the students should face the exams boldly. They shouldn’t get tensed. They should have at least 6 hours of sleep every day.

The students may do mistakes in the school tests. But they shouldn’t worry for such mistakes. They can note down those mistakes and view them before the exams so that they will nto do such mistakes in the exams.

The students should take healthy food.

To get full marks in one mark questions, the students can have discussion class with their friends. All the best to all my juniors.
